10 Books on My Autumn 2018 TBR 🍂

It’s almost autumn! I follow astrological seasons rather than going by calendar months, so to me, it isn’t actually autumn until Sunday when the equinox. But enough about astrology and science and stuff, we’re here to talk about books.

I really like to match what I read to the seasons, so autumn (and especially October) is the perfect time for me to read genre fiction, particularly horror and sci-fi. In October I will be doing my Spooky Month posts again, and in November, I will be participating in Sci-Fi Month again and I’m so excited for both that I’ve been planning my posts for months. It never hurts to be prepared, does it?

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead – The end of the third VA book was so unfair that of course I have to continue reading it. Even though I don’t think this is the best series I’ve ever read, it is still entertaining.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi – Am I late to this book? Yes, by months. I’ve barely seen anyone talk about this book now so I guess it’s around the right time for me to read it. But the hype is definitely still huge.

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead – More Vampire Academy, of course. Got to get this series finished before this year is over.

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins – Stephanie Perkins was one of my favourite authors back in the day when her fluffy contemporaries were all the rage, so the fact that she’s written a thriller book interests me so much.

The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco – I haven’t read many reviews of this book (or any book, really) but I have heard that this is pretty dang scary, and that pleases me so much.

Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – If I didn’t have more than one vampire book on my October TBR, something weird would be going on with me, wouldn’t it?

Tomie by Junji Ito – I have some high expectations for this one because Junji Ito is apparently one of the “masters” of horror and I’ve seen some of his art, and it’s pretty terrifying. Squee!

Devilman: The Classic Collection 1 by Go Nagai – I can’t believe I finally have this book, I’ve been lusting after it for so long 😭 I’m kind of hoping that this one will be scary, but it might not be.

Dragon Ball Z by Akira Toriyama – How many volumes are in this series? 26. How many of them am I going to read in November? ALL OF THEM. I have no regrets.

Warcross by Marie Lu – I have had this book on my bedside for almost a year now, and I’ve finally figured out where to put it on my TBR, and that’s in Sci-Fi Month. You know what they say, better late than never.

What’s on your autumn TBR? Or spring if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere? Do you do themed TBRs for autumn/Halloween or do you just go with whatever?

Ahhh Certain Dark Things is so good! I hope you enjoy it, I love Moreno-Garcia’s work. I desperately need to read Children of Blood and Bone soon, too.

I hope so too! It sounds like everything I want in a vampire book so I’m so excited to read it 🙂

  2. 18/09/2018 / 12:09 PM

There’s Someone Inside Your House had such mixed reviews, but I really liked it! I do like to read spookier books this time of the year – not that I don’t always read mysteries/thrillers, but it just suits the season. 🙂

I don’t think I’ve read any reviews of it since I tend to steer clear of reviews of books I really want to read, but hopefully I will like it! 🙂

I really enjoyed Children of Blood and Bone but I agree – the hype is real and affected people as well. I just hope you’ll enjoy it plenty! 🙂 I read Warcross last year and was.. bummed I had to wait a year for the sequel, haha. So you’re actually playing it smart by reading it now since the sequel came out.. today? I think?

Hope you enjoy all of these books!

    Happy reading!

Ooh, I knew the sequel was coming but I didn’t know it was out now! That definitely comes in handy! 🙂

Now that I have a school aged daughter I feel the pull to think of the seasons in terms of a school year, but I’m resisting. 🙂 Fall does not start in the beginning of August. I will never accept that. Haha

I love your list! So many great books for this time of year. I am glad I am not the only one who hasn’t gotten to Warcross yet. You may beat me to it still. I really want to read Children of Blood and Bone as well.

I hope you have an amazing autumn! Enjoy your reading.

We start school at the beginning of September where I am but I still don’t consider that to be autumn either! It’s still warm at the beginning of September so I refuse to call it autumn.

I hope you get to read Warcross and Children of Blood and Bone sometime! 🙂

  5. 18/09/2018 / 7:27 PM

I loved Certain Dark Things, so I hope you enjoy. I am also hoping to get to Warcross soon. I can’t believe so much time has passed between its release and now.

I can’t believe it either 😮 I got my copy around Christmastime last year so it’s surprising how long it’s taking me to get around to it.

I hope so too! It’s definitely one I’m looking forward too the most! 🙂

Thank you! I’m hoping to really stick with it this year 🙂

So happy to see Blood Promise and Spirit Bound on your list! I have very fond memories of reading Vampire Academy back when vampire books were all the rage, lol. I also really enjoyed Stephanie Perkins’s contemporaries and am quite curious about There’s Someone Inside Your House. I still need to check that one out.

I hope you do get around to There’s Someone Inside Your House someday! Hopefully we’ll both enjoy it 🙂

Okay the Pooh GIF is the best thing I’ve seen all day, so thanks for that for starters! And I agree- fall is the best time of year for spooky stuff. 🙂 I still need to read some Vampire Academy, and Warcross was pretty fun! Hope you love it!

Pooh is always a treat, he’s so cute 🙂 I hope you get around to VA some day, I don’t think it’s the best series out there but it’s definitely worth a read 🙂

  8. 19/09/2018 / 3:48 AM

It’s kind of nice for me to see Children of Blood and Bone on so many lists this week because I too have not read it yet! (I will. I’m looking forward to it. I have my copy. I just… haven’t gotten there yet.)

I hope you do get to it soon and that you enjoy it! 🙂

  9. 19/09/2018 / 1:20 PM

I just finished Certain dark Things, but haven’t written a review yet. It’s great!

      26/09/2018 / 8:59 PM

Yay! I’ve got pretty high expectations for it 🙂

  10. 19/09/2018 / 5:09 PM

Sci-Fi month sounds like a lot of fun! I have read Warcross and I enjoyed it, but the ending wasn’t super satisfying since I read it close to its release date and the sequel was not yet published. I agree that you may have done the better thing by waiting for the release of the sequel (even if unintentionally) before reading the first book. 🙂

    • Louise
      26/09/2018 / 8:31 PM

It is!! And I actually was totally unaware that the sequel was out and put Warcross on my TBR because I felt like I should really read it soon 😂

  11. 19/09/2018 / 8:57 PM

I really enjoyed “Warcross,” and someday I need to give Stephanie’s horror novel a chance. It’s not my typical genre, but I do love her contemporaries, so I *might* like the book. 😀

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland!! Happy fall TBR-ing.

      26/09/2018 / 7:01 PM

I love Stephanie’s contemporaries too, so I’m really excited to see how she does horror 🙂

  12. 21/09/2018 / 12:45 AM

Aww you remembered those of us going into spring *cries and feels validated* 😂 I love how into autumn/halloween your hemisphere gets, but I often feel the Aussies get really forgotten lmao. ANYWAY. I don’t really do themed tbrs, unless the ARCs I’m reading happened to be more themed for the months. Like I always end up reading summery contemporaries in Winter because of that being what America is publishing.😂

Anyway, I LOVE Certain Dark Things! Hands down, the best vampire book ever. I also seriously adored The Girl From The Well…it’s been years since I read it but eep was it good. 😍Totally chilling.

    • Louise
      26/09/2018 / 7:01 PM

Reading summery contemporaries in winter would frustrate me so much!! I mean, sometimes I do read spookier things in the warmer months, but it just feels so wrong to me 😂

  13. 21/09/2018 / 3:39 AM

Warcross! Yesssss. I loved it and have been dying for Wildcard to release since I finished this almost a year ago. I really hope you enjoy it!

    • Louise
      26/09/2018 / 6:58 PM

Thank you! I hope you enjoy Wildcard! 🙂
