My favourite colour is blue 💙 You might have already guessed that from both the title of this post and the amount of blue on my blog. There’s a lot of blue clicky things, some blue text here and there, and my bullet points are little blue stars. Because it’s the best colour.
Because blue is my favourite, my eyes naturally get drawn to blue book covers. Tip for authors: want me to buy your book and read it? Make it blue. Works like a charm.
And so, here are some of my favourite blue covers, some of which I have read and some of which I haven’t. Because it’s like that sometimes.
Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly – Even though I still haven’t read this book yet, it’s a favourite of mine to just own and have on my shelf because there is so much blue going on here. Blue is in the title. It’s also on the front and back covers. Then you open the book, and the text is also blue. If that’s not cool, I don’t know what is.
Allegiant by Veronica Roth – I don’t know if anyone else prefers these editions of the Divergent trilogy, but I like my books in a series to be similar but easy enough to tell apart. The fact that the trilogy has different colours makes it easier for me.
Starglass by Phoebe North – I know that there are greens and purples on this cover, but it’s mostly blue so I immediately love it 😍
Adaptation by Malinda Lo – No, this cover is not green. At least to me, it isn’t.
This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers – There are so many things about this colour I love: 1) it’s blue 2) it’s got a real person on it, but their face is completely obscured 3) there are little splatters of blood. What’s not to love?
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo – When I searched for this cover, the original one is apparently grey, but I have the blue version and think it’s so much better because water and ships play a big part in the story, and obviously water is blue.
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner – Behold, the most beautiful cover to ever exist 😍 The rest of the covers in the series are just as beautiful, but obviously, this one is my favourite because it’s blue.
Goliath by Scott Westerfeld – Ahh, my favourite author 💙 I think all of the Leviathan books have great covers, but Goliath is my favourite because it looks like aurora borealis.
Double Down by Gwenda Bond – I have to bring up my mother Lois at least once or I’ll explode. I love that the covers of these books clearly show that Lois is a journalist, with the blocks of text in the white spaces.
The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater – The cover of this book is just as gorgeous as its insides. That blue stag with all of the magic and birds inside is just 💙
